Man Arrested for Murder in Connection with Suspicious Death in Athens
ATHENS, Ga. – A man is under arrest in connection with a death investigation in Athens-Clarke County. The investigation began when officers were on another unrelated call in the area of Hull Road and Danielsville Road on April 17. While working that call, officers discovered a deceased man in a tent.
Victim Identified, Death Deemed Suspicious
The man was later identified as 42-year-old Athens resident Rodney Alford. Investigators determined Alford’s death was suspicious, prompting a full investigation by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
Arrest Made After Week-Long Investigation
Over a week later, on April 24, police obtained an arrest warrant and placed 30-year-old Joshua Robert White in custody in connection with Alford’s death. White has been charged with felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault.
