Corfu, March 11 – Sky Express has announced the continuation of its flight schedule connecting Corfu with Preveza, Kefalonia, and Zakynthos. The airline will increase the frequency of these inter-Ionian flights to three times a week for the upcoming summer season.

Enhanced Connectivity for Ionian Islands

The route, which previously operated twice a week during winter, will now run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This sustained service underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing tourism and fostering connectivity among the Ionian Islands and with mainland Greece throughout the year.

According to a statement from Startmedia, the flights will be operated using ATR42 and ATR72 aircraft. These turboprop planes are well-suited for regional connections, offering efficient and reliable service between the islands.

Supporting Tourism Despite Global Challenges

Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, air carriers are not reporting significant cancellations to and from Corfu, suggesting that the summer season is not expected to be drastically affected. However, the fluid nature of international conflicts means the situation remains unpredictable.

This regular air link is crucial for the regional economy, facilitating easier travel for both residents and tourists. It allows for more flexible travel planning and supports the local tourism industry, which is a vital part of the Ionian Islands’ economic landscape.

Local Impact and Future Prospects

The increased frequency of flights is expected to further boost tourist arrivals and inter-island travel, providing a significant advantage for businesses and residents alike. The continuous operation of this route highlights the importance of reliable air transport for the region’s development.

Sky Express has maintained this specific route for several years, demonstrating its long-term commitment to the Ionian network. This consistency is a key factor in building a robust and accessible travel infrastructure for the Greek islands.

The airline’s decision to increase flight frequency reflects a positive outlook for the summer tourism season in the Ionian Sea, despite broader global concerns. This move is anticipated to be well-received by travelers looking to explore the beauty and culture of this popular Greek destination.
