Canadian athleisure brand Lululemon has officially entered the Greek market, inaugurating its first two retail locations in Athens. This strategic move is part of the brand’s broader international expansion efforts across Europe, facilitated by a new franchise partnership with Arion Retail Group.
Lululemon’s Grand Opening in Athens
The first Lululemon store in Greece, situated in the upscale Kolonaki district of central Athens, commenced operations yesterday, May 22. A second, larger store is slated to open on June 12 at the Golden Hall shopping mall, located in Marousi, in the northern part of the city.
Sarah Clark, Senior Vice President, EMEA, Lululemon, expressed enthusiasm for the new venture. “We’re excited to welcome more guests to Lululemon with the opening of the first stores in Greece, marking another milestone in our continued growth across EMEA,” Clark stated. She added, “Together with our franchise partner Arion Retail Group, we look forward to introducing our premium performance products that blend technical innovation with elevated style to new guests in the market and building meaningful connections with the local community here in Athens.”
Store Features and Product Offerings
The Kolonaki store, spanning nearly 180 square meters, offers a comprehensive range of Lululemon’s signature products. These include apparel and accessories designed for various activities such as yoga, pilates, running, training, tennis, golf, and everyday movement, catering to both men and women. The interior design of the Kolonaki store incorporates natural materials like textured plaster, terrazzo flooring, and wood finishing, creating a contemporary and inviting retail environment consistent with the brand’s global aesthetic.
The second store in Golden Hall is significantly larger, covering 290 square meters across two floors. It will also feature a wide selection of Lululemon’s athleisure wear and performance products for both genders.
Community Engagement and Future Expansion
Beyond retail, both new Lululemon locations in Athens are envisioned as community hubs. They plan to engage with local running clubs, fitness studios, and trainers, and will host in-store events and collaborations. This initiative aims to foster stronger connections with the local community and reinforce the brand’s commitment to well-being.
The launch in Greece follows closely on the heels of Lululemon’s recent entries into Poland and Hungary, which took place two months prior. This rapid expansion underscores the brand’s aggressive international growth strategy. Lululemon has ambitious plans for further market penetration, with additional new market entries scheduled for this year in Romania, Austria, and India. This trajectory positions Lululemon to achieve a record six market launches within a 12-month period.
The brand’s continued push into new European and global markets highlights its confidence in the growing demand for athleisure wear and its strategic vision for becoming a prominent global player in the segment.
