Athens, February 3, 2026 – Renowned chef Thanos Stasinos has returned to Kolonaki with his latest venture, Kissa Athens. The new establishment, located on Leventi Street, aims to introduce the spirit of Japanese jazz kissaten to the Athenian dining scene, blending music and food in a natural rhythm.

The Concept of Kissa Athens: A Modern Jazz Kissaten

The term “kissaten” in Japan historically refers to coffee shops. In the early 20th century, these evolved into “jazz kissa” – spaces dedicated to vinyl records, attentive listening, and a communal experience centered around sound. Thanos Stasinos brings this philosophy to Athens, creating a space with a distinct identity where music acts as a common denominator.

“We wanted to create a place where people can gather, enjoy good music, and share delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere, much like the traditional jazz kissas of Japan,” stated Stasinos.

The Culinary Offerings: Comfort, Street Food, and Sharing

The menu at Kissa Athens, meticulously crafted and executed by Stasinos’s talented collaborator, Vasiliki Vlachou, spans comfort Japanese cuisine, street food culture, and a sharing plate concept. The offerings are designed to be accessible and appealing, reflecting a modern approach to Japanese flavors.

A glance at the menu reveals a diverse selection of dishes, including:

  • Spicy edamame
  • Crab salad
  • Sea bass tartare
  • Nori tacos with sea bream
  • Beef tataki with wafu sauce
  • Grilled skewers: pork belly, beef, and chicken
  • Iberico ramen
  • Udon with duck

For sharing, guests can enjoy options such as pork katsu sando, rock shrimp tempura, and ocean beef striploin. The pricing structure is noted to be absolutely affordable for the restaurant’s style, making it an attractive option for a broad clientele.

Location and Future Plans

Kissa Athens has opened its doors at 5 Leventi Street in Kolonaki, occupying the former site of an izakaya. The restaurant is already generating significant buzz within the Athenian culinary scene.

The establishment’s commitment to creating a unique atmosphere through the fusion of jazz music and Japanese cuisine is expected to draw both locals and tourists seeking a distinctive dining experience. Further details and reviews are anticipated as the restaurant settles into its operations.

Sources from FNL suggest that a full review of Kissa Athens will be published soon, providing a deeper dive into the culinary and atmospheric experience offered by Stasinos and Vlachou.
