Hollywood A-Listers Head to Corfu for New Film Project

Corfu, January 29 – The picturesque Ionian island of Corfu is preparing to welcome a trio of Hollywood heavyweights: Cillian Murphy, Daniel Craig, and Michelle Williams. These acclaimed actors are set to film a new drama directed by Oscar winner Damien Chazelle, known for ‘La La Land’. The production is scheduled to take place in Corfu and Athens from March to May.

The untitled film, penned by Chazelle himself, is described as a gripping prison drama. The historic facilities of Corfu’s old prison, with its distinctive architectural design by the English philosopher and jurist Jeremy Bentham – featuring ten radially arranged buildings and a central circular administration office – have been selected as the ideal setting for the film’s intense narrative.

A Star-Studded Cast and Acclaimed Director

Damien Chazelle, who captivated audiences worldwide with his musical romantic drama ‘La La Land’ in 2016, earning six Academy Awards, has once again garnered international attention with this new project. The film’s powerful cast, featuring three major names in contemporary cinema, is a significant draw.

Cillian Murphy, fresh off his Oscar-winning performance in ‘Oppenheimer’ as the father of the atomic bomb, has solidified his status as an actor of exceptional caliber. Daniel Craig, deeply associated with the iconic James Bond character, marks his return to a new cinematic challenge. Michelle Williams, recognized as one of the leading actresses of her generation, has consistently demonstrated her profound acting abilities, earning three Golden Globes and five Oscar nominations for her roles in films such as ‘Blue Valentine’, ‘My Week with Marilyn’, and ‘Brokeback Mountain’.

The collaboration of these three extraordinary actors under the direction of Chazelle, combined with the stunning Greek landscapes, is expected to create a globally anticipated film. The production will be released by Paramount Pictures with the participation of the Greek production company Heretic.

Filming Locations and Production Details

The principal photography will span from March to May, with Corfu’s historic prison serving as a key location. The film’s score will be composed by Justin Hurwitz, Chazelle’s long-time collaborator, who has reportedly described the screenplay as ‘the best he has ever read’.

This major cinematic undertaking is expected to bring significant international exposure to Corfu and Athens, further cementing Greece’s reputation as a desirable filming destination for large-scale productions.
