Athens, February 16, 2026 – The increasing influx of students and professionals to Greece has highlighted a critical issue for tourism and host cities: access to affordable, safe, and flexible housing. In response to this challenge, Flatpulse, a new Greek co-living platform, has emerged as a reliable intermediary connecting individuals seeking shared living spaces.

Athens a Top Destination for Digital Nomads and Students

According to Valantis Moustakakis, co-founder and CEO of Flatpulse, over 49,000 international travelers visited Greece through the Erasmus program in 2024 for studies, internships, or other short-term mobilities. Additionally, in 2023, more than 1,000 applications for postgraduate studies at Greek universities were submitted by international students. This demographic actively seeks accommodation solutions beyond traditional tourist options and is already familiar with the co-living model.

Daphne Drosou, co-founder and CMO of Flatpulse, further notes that in 2024, Athens was ranked among the top 25 best cities globally for digital nomads. This category of visitors typically opts for multi-month or even multi-year stays, prioritizing not only economical and flexible housing but also a genuine connection with the local community and lifestyle.

Flatpulse: A Solution to the Housing Crisis

The founders explain that the idea for Flatpulse stemmed from the realization that the housing crisis in Greece has reached proportions that directly affect both permanent residents and those choosing the country for studies, work, or long-term stays. Greeks, on average, spend approximately 36% of their disposable income on housing, a figure nearly double the European average.

Flatpulse operates as a modern marketplace where users create co-living profiles, detailing both the characteristics of their space and their personal preferences. Users can also actively search for available opportunities that match their profiles. A core tenet of Flatpulse’s philosophy is safety and compatibility, with user communication being controlled and information gradually disclosed. Immediate plans include identity verification through a certified provider and the integration of an internal communication system.

Building a Community and Expanding Partnerships

Special emphasis is placed on community building, as the co-founders stress that co-living is not only about reducing living costs but also about coexisting with individuals who share common values and daily routines. In this context, Flatpulse is already collaborating with the Erasmus Student Network of the Athens University of Economics and Business. The platform plans to expand its partnerships with Greek universities and student organizations to offer international students and young professionals reliable accommodation solutions from their first day in the country.

Early Success and Future Outlook

Initial usage data confirms that interest extends beyond younger age groups. To date, over 1,000 users have searched for roommates through Flatpulse, more than 1,200 communication requests have been made, and the platform has received over 10,000 unique visitors, with significant participation from age groups over 35.

In an era where city tourism, international student mobility, and digital nomads are redefining accommodation needs in Greece, co-living is emerging as a functional tool for urban and local community sustainability. Flatpulse aims to position itself precisely at this intersection, offering an alternative that connects technology with the daily living experience and modern human mobility.
