‘Friends of Vido’ Society Elects New Board, G. Kourkoulos Retires After Years of Service
Corfu, May 3 – The ‘Friends of Vido’ Society held its electoral and accountability assembly yesterday, with members and friends of the association participating in a climate of review and planning for the upcoming period. The assembly took place amidst recognition of past achievements and a commitment to continuity for the protection and promotion of Vido Island.
During the assembly, the administrative and financial report of the outgoing administration was presented. Special emphasis was placed on initiatives for the protection and promotion of Vido Island, as well as environmental awareness campaigns. The report highlighted interventions for the protection of the natural environment, cooperation with local bodies, and efforts to promote the historical and cultural significance of the island.
G. Kourkoulos Steps Down After Years of Dedication
A special mention was made of the society’s president and former mayor of Corfu, G. Kourkoulos, who announced his retirement from the position due to age, following many years of dedicated service. Members expressed their gratitude for his significant contribution and his continuous presence in the society’s activities throughout the years.
Following the reports, a discussion among members took place, during which proposals were made to strengthen the society’s presence and further engage the local community in its endeavors. New Board of Directors Elected
As part of the assembly, elections were held to appoint a new Board of Directors. The electoral process resulted in the election of the following individuals: Pavlidis, Raidestinos, Roussou, Metallinou, Gasteratos, Kardona, and Pyromali. The newly elected Board is expected to convene in the coming days to form a body, with its primary priority being the continuation of actions for the protection and promotion of Vido Island. This transition marks a new chapter for the ‘Friends of Vido’ Society, building upon the strong foundation laid by its predecessors.
