The Thalassemia International Federation (TIF), in collaboration with the Hellenic Thalassemia Federation (E.O.THA.), has announced the organization of the ‘1st Nursing Workshop on Hemoglobinopathies,’ which will take place on November 29 and 30, 2025, at the Titania Hotel in Athens. The event is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Health of both Greece and the Republic of Cyprus, highlighting the transnational commitment to enhancing the education of healthcare professionals, particularly the nursing community.

Enhancing Nursing’s Vital Contribution to Patient Care

The Workshop aims to highlight the vital contribution of nurses in the daily care of patients, a contribution that combines knowledge, experience, empathy, and continuous dedication. The care of individuals with thalassemia and sickle cell disease requires specialized skills, a deep understanding of the clinical complexity of these conditions, and the ability to respond to complex psychosocial needs – elements that the Workshop seeks to strengthen and promote.

During the two-day program, participants will attend presentations focusing on modern therapeutic practices, the management of critical complications, the demands of long-term care, as well as the challenges encountered in the healthcare systems of different countries, as will be highlighted by the international panel of experts participating.

TIF Emphasizes the Invaluable Role of Nurses

TIF emphasizes that the contribution of nurses to comprehensive patient care is invaluable and extends far beyond clinical practice, touching upon the human, psychological, and social dimensions of their daily journey. For this reason, enhancing the recognition of nurses’ work, institutional support for their role, and highlighting their crucial position in interdisciplinary care schemes are priorities that the Federation consistently promotes.

New Nursing Guide for Hemoglobinopathies to be Presented

During the Workshop, the official presentation of the new, extensively revised edition of TIF’s ‘Nursing Guide for Hemoglobinopathies’ will take place. This edition incorporates the latest scientific developments and is now also available in Greek. This publication will be provided to participants, offering them an essential tool for clinical support and continuous professional development.

Event Supported by Leading Pharmaceutical Companies

The event is made possible with the kind support of Agios, Avanzanite Bioscience, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Chiesi, whom TIF and E.O.THA. thank for their contribution to organizing this important educational initiative aimed at those on the front lines of care.
