The Corfu Mountaineering Club invites its members to a three-day excursion to Mount Parnassus, one of Greece’s most impressive mountain ranges. The trip, scheduled from December 12 to 14, 2025, promises an unforgettable experience with demanding hikes and stunning natural beauty.
Excursion Overview
Mount Parnassus extends across the prefectures of Viotia, Fthiotida, and Fokida, boasting the seventh highest peak in Greece, Liakoura, at 2,457 meters. According to myth, Parnassus, son of Poseidon, founded a city on the mountain, whose inhabitants were saved from Deucalion’s flood by following wolves to the peak, where they built Lykoreia. Today’s peak name, Liakoura, is believed to be a corruption of this ancient name.
The excursion leader is Athina Gkoura.
