Rebrain Greece Initiative Draws Thousands in London
London, May 9 – The seventh consecutive outreach event of the “Rebrain Greece” initiative, organized by the Greek Ministry of Labour and Social Security, attracted a significant number of Greeks from the United Kingdom and surrounding countries. The event, held in London, saw 3,107 participants engage with representatives from 35 business groups actively seeking executives and specialized personnel for positions within Greece.
Connecting Talent with Opportunity
Attendees at the event were provided with comprehensive information regarding career development opportunities currently available in the Greek labor market. Furthermore, details were shared about the state-sponsored incentives designed to encourage the repatriation of Greek professionals living abroad. The initiative aims to connect companies in Greece searching for specialized talent with Greeks in the diaspora who are considering a return to their homeland.
Greek Labour Market’s Current State and Success
Niki Kerameus, representing the Greek Ministry, presented an overview of the current state of the Greek labor market. She highlighted the modern labor and economic conditions that have emerged in Greece, emphasizing the country’s growing success in attracting Greeks living abroad back home. Kerameus underscored that the “Rebrain Greece” program serves as a vital link in this process.
Reversing the Brain Drain: Key Figures
During the event, crucial figures were presented regarding Greece’s demographic and economic shifts. Approximately 730,000 Greek citizens departed the country over the past 10 to 15 years. However, a significant reversal has been observed, with 473,000 having since returned. Kerameus noted that these figures represent a 64 percent reversal of the country’s ‘brain drain’ phenomenon, indicating a positive trend in skilled professionals returning to Greece.
Future Prospects for Repatriation
The success of the ‘Rebrain Greece’ initiative in London suggests a strong and continued interest among the Greek diaspora in exploring opportunities within their home country. The ongoing efforts by the Greek government and various business sectors to facilitate this return are expected to further contribute to the nation’s economic and professional landscape. The initiative’s focus on connecting talent with available roles, coupled with attractive state incentives, plays a crucial role in achieving this objective.
