My market, a prominent retail chain with over 290 stores across Greece, is vigorously pursuing its strategic growth plan. The company has announced a substantial investment of €16.75 million dedicated to the establishment of two new stores and the comprehensive renovation of two existing locations. This initiative underscores My market’s commitment to continuously improving the customer shopping experience and solidifying its market presence throughout the country.

New Store Openings in Corfu and Loutraki

As part of this expansion, a new, privately-owned My market store was inaugurated in Corfu in December. This state-of-the-art facility boasts a sales area of 1,480 square meters and an additional 774 square meters of auxiliary space. Designed for customer convenience, it features four conventional checkouts, five self-checkout stations, and a parking area with 28 spaces.

More recently, a new My market store commenced operations in Loutraki. This location offers a sales area of 1,340 square meters, supported by 1,745 square meters of auxiliary space. It is equipped with five conventional checkouts, five self-checkout stations, and a spacious parking facility accommodating 48 vehicles.

Both new stores are designed to provide a comprehensive shopping experience, featuring a full range of specialized departments. These include a Bake off section, ‘My wellness’ products, a greengrocer, a butcher, a fishmonger, a cellar for beverages, and a cosmetics section, catering to diverse customer needs.

Extensive Renovations in Mandra and Spata

In addition to the new constructions, My market has completed significant renovation projects at its stores in Mandra and Spata. The refurbished Mandra store now offers a sales area of 931 square meters and 1,013 square meters of auxiliary space. It has been upgraded with modern ‘My wellness’ sections, greengrocer, butcher, cellar, and cosmetics departments, alongside four conventional and three self-checkout stations.

Similarly, the renovated store in Spata features a sales area of 1,468 square meters and 738 square meters of auxiliary space. This location also includes enhanced departments such as Bake off, ‘My wellness’, butcher, cellar, and cosmetics, complemented by four conventional and three self-checkout stations.

A notable feature across all these newly opened and renovated stores is the provision of electric vehicle charging stations within their parking areas, alongside designated parking spaces for people with disabilities, reflecting My market’s commitment to modern amenities and accessibility.

Strategic Vision and Future Plans

Dimitris Kontos, Operations Director at METRO, commented on these developments, stating, “In a year where we celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary, 2026 marks another significant milestone in the implementation of our strategic plan. We are strengthening the My market network with five new stores and proceeding with the renovation of six more, two of which include expansions, investing in long-term value growth.”

Kontos further elaborated on the company’s broader strategy, highlighting the continued investment in the development of My market Local stores. The objective is to reach 100 such stores by the end of 2026, expanding their network into major regional cities like Larissa and Heraklion, as well as islands with significant tourist activity.

“Our goal is to have modern and sustainable stores that reduce our environmental footprint, create new jobs, thereby strengthening local communities, and offer an upgraded shopping experience,” Kontos added, emphasizing the company’s holistic approach to growth and community engagement.

The company’s strategic plan for 2026 includes a total of five new stores and six renovations, two of which involve expansions, demonstrating a robust commitment to growth and modernization. This investment is poised to not only enhance the retail landscape but also contribute positively to local economies through job creation and improved services.
