LONDON – Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spearheaded a robust campaign to attract international investment to Greece during the 4th Investment Conference in London on December 1, 2025. The event, co-organized by the Athens Stock Exchange and Morgan Stanley, served as a platform for Mitsotakis to highlight the country’s economic resurgence and burgeoning investment landscape.

Mitsotakis Engages with Morgan Stanley and International Investors

During the morning session, Prime Minister Mitsotakis engaged in an open discussion with Clare Woodman, CEO of Morgan Stanley, addressing crucial questions concerning the trajectory of the Greek economy. Prior to this, he held a series of meetings with international investors, where he meticulously outlined the diverse investment opportunities currently available in Greece.

The conference saw the active participation of 42 listed companies from the Athens Stock Exchange, encompassing both large and medium capitalization firms. These companies presented their investment propositions through roundtable discussions and one-on-one meetings with prospective investors, fostering direct engagement and information exchange.

Key Economic Progress and Investment Attractiveness

In his address, Mitsotakis underscored the sustained progress of the Greek economy and its enhanced attractiveness as an investment destination. He specifically highlighted several key indicators:

  • Robust Growth Rates: Demonstrating a resilient economic recovery.
  • Decreasing Unemployment: Reflecting a strengthening labor market.
  • Increasing Investments: Indicating growing confidence from both domestic and international capital.
  • Gradual De-escalation of Public Debt: Signifying improved fiscal health.

The Prime Minister also drew attention to the positive performance of the Greek financial sector and the expanding ecosystem of start-ups, which are driving innovation and economic diversification. Furthermore, he emphasized Greece’s escalating role as an energy hub in Southeastern Europe, a development that, as noted by the Prime Minister, significantly bolsters the country’s geopolitical influence across the wider region.

Public Discussion at Oxford University

In the afternoon, Prime Minister Mitsotakis traveled to Oxford for a public discussion at the prestigious Blavatnik School of Government (BSG) at the University of Oxford. He engaged in a dialogue with Ngaire Woods, the School’s dean and a distinguished professor of Global Economic Governance.

The BSG is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost centers for public policy education and research. It offers high-level interdisciplinary training in critical areas such as governance, international relations, economic policy, and leadership. The institution serves as a vital nexus for bridging the gap between governance theory and practical application. Its research endeavors are primarily focused on addressing contemporary global challenges, including economic governance, social policy, democracy, environmental sustainability, and human rights.

This engagement at Oxford further solidified Greece’s commitment to intellectual discourse and its active participation in global policy discussions, reinforcing its position on the international stage.

The Prime Minister’s visit to London and Oxford underscores Greece’s proactive approach to economic diplomacy and its determination to attract foreign capital and expertise to sustain its growth trajectory.
