Athens, March 16 – COS, the contemporary fashion brand, has officially opened its new flagship store on Ermou Street in Athens. This marks the brand’s third establishment in Greece, with a second store in Thessaloniki slated to open later this spring. The new Athens store, spanning 475 square meters across two levels, showcases a meticulously designed space that pays homage to the building’s rich architectural heritage while incorporating modern design principles.
Architectural Harmony and Sustainable Design
The interior design, crafted by COS’s in-house creative team, features a balanced exploration of materials and selected furnishings. The exterior façade of the store is adorned with green marble, respectfully restored to highlight its natural depth and character, a direct reference to COS’s runway show at the Dionysus Marble Quarry in Athens.
Inside, a neutral color palette provides a sophisticated backdrop for COS collections. Original ceiling frescoes add a unique character to the space, while curved walls guide visitors seamlessly through the store. Terrazzo flooring enhances the spatial coherence, complemented by handmade wool rugs from Kasthall.
Thoughtful Furnishings and Eco-Conscious Materials
The selected furnishings reflect the brand’s respect for timeless craftsmanship. Ready-to-wear collections and accessories are displayed on aluminum rails and showcases with shelves made from recycled materials by Smile Plastics. Tables from PAPER FACTOR, crafted in Italy from a composite material including recycled cellulose fibers and natural earth pigments, add warmth, materiality, and a handmade feel to the space.
In the lounge area, Alky chairs by Giancarlo Piretti are paired with an angular steel side table by Audo Copenhagen, creating a dialogue between past and present. The dynamic, curved lines of Gianfranco Frattini’s Sesann sofa are framed by a NORR11 side table, alongside birch plywood chairs from Parisian Goons Studio, continuing the calm, natural rhythm of the space. In the fitting rooms, handmade upholstered daybeds and pouffes by NORR11 add a sense of comfort and softness. The space is illuminated by the warm glow of RBW’s Mori wall lights, creating an inviting atmosphere.
New Collections and Future Expansion
The Ermou Street store now presents the latest COS Womenswear and Menswear collections, featuring timeless designs distinguished by exquisite fabrics, precise construction, and unexpected modern details. Following this opening, COS is set to launch its new store on Tsimiski Street in Thessaloniki later this month, further expanding its presence in Greece.
Celebratory Dinner Marks Milestone Event
To celebrate the opening of its new stores in Greece, COS hosted a private dinner on Thursday, March 12. The event gathered a select group of leading media representatives and notable personalities, creating an atmospheric gathering to mark this significant milestone for the brand. Among the distinguished guests were Genevieve Mazari, Dimitris Mothonaios, Argyris Pantazaras, Elena Galyfa, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Victoria Marouli, Emmanuel Elozieoua, George Karapetis, Chris Betta, and Chrysianna Andriopoulou.
The expansion reflects COS’s growing commitment to the Greek market and its strategy to offer its distinctive blend of modern, functional, and considered design to a wider audience.
