Corfu and Ionian Islands Shine in Paris Tourism Campaign
Corfu, Greece – The Ionian Islands are currently the focus of a significant tourism promotion campaign in Paris, aiming to attract French visitors to the picturesque Greek region. This initiative includes a targeted advertising campaign on Parisian taxis and active participation in the prestigious Salon Mondial du Tourisme.
Taxi Campaign Showcases Ionian Beauty
Throughout March, Parisian taxis are adorned with captivating photographs showcasing iconic landmarks and idyllic beaches from Corfu, Zakynthos, Paxos, Lefkada, Meganisi, Kefalonia, and Ithaca. This strategic visual campaign aims to bring the beauty of the Ionian Islands directly into the daily lives of Parisians, generating interest and curiosity.
This initiative was specifically timed to coincide with the International Tourism Exhibition, “Salon Mondial du Tourisme,” held from March 12 to 15 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. This exhibition is primarily aimed at the French public and individuals seeking their next travel experience.
Regional Governor Leads Delegation at International Tourism Fair
The Region of Ionian Islands is participating with an autonomous booth at the 49th Salon Mondial du Tourisme, which gathers hundreds of exhibitors from around the world and is considered a premier annual event for the travel industry in the French market. Regional Governor Yiannis Trepeklis is present at the exhibition, engaging in a series of contacts and meetings to further promote the islands.
The targeted tourism promotion campaign in Paris is set to continue until the end of the month. This marks the second such outward-looking initiative by the Region of Ionian Islands in a major European capital, following a similar campaign in Rome that featured advertising on buses in the Italian capital.
Strategic Approach to Tourism Development
In a statement from Paris, the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Yiannis Trepeklis, emphasized, “Our strategy for the tourism development of the Ionian Islands is based on our combined presence at major international exhibitions and targeted promotional actions that enhance the region’s extroversion. After Rome, we are implementing a new dynamic campaign in Paris, with taxis carrying the image of our islands into the city’s daily life.”
Trepeklis highlighted the strong identity of the Ionian Islands, citing their unique natural environment, rich tradition, high-quality gastronomy, and authentic hospitality from tourism and catering professionals. He noted that these elements are particularly appreciated by the French market.
“We are systematically strengthening our presence, both in traditional markets and in new, dynamic markets, which can contribute to attracting visitors with higher purchasing power and to the sustainable development of tourism on our islands,” Trepeklis added. He also expressed optimism for a more secure international environment with the prevalence of peace, hoping for an even better tourism season than in 2025.
Initial data suggests that these efforts are yielding positive results, with an increasing number of visitors choosing the Ionian Islands as a quality destination. The campaign underscores the region’s commitment to strategic international outreach and sustainable tourism growth.
