With a performance that filled the educational community with hope and pride, young students from Corfu dominated yesterday’s Panhellenic Robotics Competition Finals. Among the 10 teams from the island that swept the medals, the youngest participants stole the show, proving that innovation knows no age.
The “Pharaoh’s Engineers” Achieve Top Honors in OPEN Category (Grades 1-4)
The team “The Pharaoh’s Engineers” won the 1st prize in Mechanical Design, astounding both judges and the audience. Despite their young age, these small “scientists” presented a high-standard project, clearly explaining complex concepts that even older students find challenging.
The judges particularly noted that the children had fully grasped the principles of Physics and Mechanics, practically explaining:
- The function of friction and energy.
- The mechanics of gears.
- The transformation of motion into results through their design.
The judging panel, impressed by their maturity and expertise, awarded them the title “Engineers of the Future,” recognizing their talent for bringing technology to life.
Corfu at the Forefront of Innovation
This success was the “diamond” of an overall presence of 10 teams from Corfu Robotics, the 14th Primary School, and the 4th Middle School of Corfu, who won a series of first, second, and third places in all categories.
Behind these young champions were their coaches (Sp. Kontis, N. Kontos, D. Rizos, D. Rozik, El. Tilaveridou) and the organizational manager of STEM EDUCATION Ionian Islands, Marios Magioladitis, who believed in the vision of these children.
“They didn’t just win an award. They showed that passion and proper guidance can turn play into science,” said attendees.
Today’s success of the “Pharaoh’s Engineers” and all Corfiot teams marks a new era for our island, which is now a breeding ground for new scientists and technological pioneering.
