The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands is thoroughly documenting the damage caused by extreme weather events in the last ten days of November 2025. The Municipality has activated its mechanisms to immediately identify problems and advance necessary restoration efforts.

How to Report Damages:

The Municipality urges citizens who have suffered damage to their homes due to flooding, as well as those who have identified damage to public infrastructure (such as roads, bridges, embankments, landslides, networks, etc.), to submit a relevant request. Each request must include a clear description, precise location, photographic material, and full contact details.

For this process, two three-member committees have been established. These committees will be responsible for recording, locating, and inspecting damages to both public (municipal) infrastructure and private residences.

A. Public Infrastructure

The responsible committee will conduct on-site inspections of municipal works and technical infrastructure to:

  • Ascertain and thoroughly document damages caused by the severe weather phenomena.
  • Estimate the required resources and technical personnel for immediate restoration.

B. Residences – Households

The second committee will review citizen reports and will:

  • Evaluate, following an on-site inspection, the extent of damage to primary residences.
  • Determine if affected citizens are eligible for financial assistance for basic living needs.
  • Specify the amount of aid for simple repair works and/or replacement of household goods.

This procedure is implemented in accordance with Joint Ministerial Decision No. 33862/16-5-2019 by the Ministers of Interior and Finance, regarding the provision of financial assistance to citizens affected by natural disasters. It is important to note that the Municipality is exclusively responsible for households, while businesses fall under the jurisdiction of the Ionian Islands Region.

Important Information for Residents:

Who is eligible for aid?

  • Residents whose primary homes have been damaged by flooding.
  • Aid is for basic living needs, simple repairs, or replacement of household items.

What about businesses?

  • Businesses affected by the extreme weather should contact the Ionian Islands Region, as they are not covered by municipal aid.

What to include in your report?

  • Clear description of damage.
  • Precise location of damage.
  • Photographic evidence.
  • Full contact details.

Why is this process important?

  • It ensures a systematic and fair assessment of damages.
  • It facilitates the swift allocation of resources for restoration.
  • It helps in providing necessary financial aid to affected households.

The Municipality emphasizes the importance of timely and accurate reporting to ensure that all affected areas and individuals receive the appropriate attention and support.
