The Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality is actively implementing its annual rodent control program, primarily targeting public spaces within the municipal boundaries. This ongoing effort, scheduled from April 28 to May 6, 2026, is crucial for safeguarding and enhancing public health.
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
The program will be carried out in specific zones and active sites across the municipality. Please note that the schedule may be subject to change due to weather conditions or other significant reasons.
Tuesday, April 28, 2026 – Zone 6
- Areas: Gouvia, Gerakou Island, Gouvia Marina, Gouvia children’s camps, Kontokali (stadium), Alykes Potamou, Potamos and riverside areas, Alepou (Latseika, Kampos, Triklinon, behind Koskinas supermarket, Maniati Hill, Potami, Alexakeika), Kanalia (JUMBO, Romeiko, Agios Nikolaos, Agia Eleni, Katakalou), Evropouloi, Kyra Chrysikou.
- Active Sites:
- Potamos Area: Intersection (Wireless), behind waste bins.
- Kanalia Area: Bins (Tsarou area, opposite “Froutotopos”), Kastania entrance (2nd bridge), Bins within the settlement (before FAGE), Ditch on main road (opposite JUMBO), Katakalou entrance.
- Chrysiida Area: Agia Kyriaki (former Coca-Cola).
- Koulines Area: Kotsela Trench (entrance opposite church).
- Tria Fanaria Area: Trench behind gas station.
- Alepou Area: Kampos, Maniaki Hill, Mandra, DEI, Triklinon (Potamaki), Agia Paraskevi Ditches, Mamaloi, Alexakeika, other areas upon municipal notification.
Wednesday, April 29, 2026 – Zone 1
- Areas: Kefalomantouko Shipyards – Xenofontos Stratigou – Ioannou Theotokou – P. Konstantas – I. Andreadi up to Platytera Monastery (Mantouki, former Hospital, Gerokomeio).
- Active Sites:
- Mantouki: Behind CORFUMARE hotel (towards Solari), dilapidated buildings.
- Karteria: Sp. Vasileiou Street (abandoned building – trench), Cemetery (two streams).
Thursday, April 30, 2026 – Zone 2
- Areas: Platytera Monastery – I. Andreadi (right) – M. Margariti – A. Politi – around Psychiatric Hospital – up to P. Konstantas (left).
- Active Sites:
- Bins next to “Nousias” patisserie.
- Bins next to Platytera parking.
Monday, May 4, 2026 – Zone 3
- Areas: New Fortress Square – K. Zavitsianou – Arseniou – up to Ag. Nikolaou Baths, Solomou – Velisariou – G. Theotoki – up to the beginning of P. Konstantas, vegetable market, New Fortress, former KTEL (Pallada).
Tuesday, May 5, 2026 – Zone 4
- Areas: Saroko Square – D. Dimoulitsa – M. Methodiou – L. Alexandras – L. Dimokratias – up to Mandrakina.
- Active Sites:
- Villa Rosa: Trench behind parking area.
Wednesday, May 6, 2026 – Zone 5
- Areas: Garitsa – Anemomylos – Mon Repos (within) – Daerpfeld – Agioi Theodoroi – Cemetery – Prison Grove – Avrami Hill – Kanoni – Analipsi.
- Active Sites:
- Halikiopoulou Lake.
- Analipsi (bins at bend & central point).
- Kanoni (Skamata).
- Garitsa (playground).
- Cemetery (grove).
- Prison Grove.
- Commercial Center (coastal).
- Kefalomantouko (bins & streams).
- Karteria (Sp. Vasileiou Street & behind “Nousias”).
