Athens, January 21 – Accor, a leading global hospitality group, has announced the expansion of its luxury MGallery Collection in Athens with the addition of a new 5-star hotel. The new property will be part of the VORIA development, a large-scale mixed-use project located in Maroussi, northern Athens. This marks Accor’s third MGallery hotel in the Attica region, underscoring the growing appeal of Athens as a prime destination for luxury hospitality investments.
Major Investment in Northern Athens
The agreement for the management of the hotel was officially signed yesterday, January 20, 2026, between North Star Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Regency Entertainment Group, and Accor. The hotel will be integrated into the VORIA hospitality and entertainment complex, which is currently under construction. The VORIA development represents one of the largest private investments in northern Athens in recent decades, with an estimated value of 380 million euros.
Construction work on the VORIA complex is already underway, with METKA serving as the contractor. The entire complex is projected to be completed and fully operational by May 2028. This ambitious project is expected to significantly enhance the hospitality and tourism landscape of the region.
Strategic Partnership for Global Standards
Giannis Tsirikos, CEO of Regency Entertainment and North Star Entertainment, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership with Accor. “Our objective was for the VORIA hotel to operate under a globally recognized hospitality brand,” Tsirikos stated. He added that the collaboration is anticipated to ensure the property adheres to international standards while simultaneously elevating the area’s profile as a premier destination for both leisure and business travelers.
The selection of the MGallery Collection, known for its unique boutique hotels that blend local charm with luxury, aligns with the VORIA development’s vision of creating a distinctive and high-quality experience for its guests.
Hotel Features and Integrated Development
The new MGallery hotel will boast 170 meticulously designed rooms and suites. Guests will have access to a comprehensive range of amenities, including a sprawling 2,000-square-meter spa, both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, diverse food and beverage outlets, and state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces. The developers emphasize that the hotel’s design will incorporate contemporary hospitality standards and cutting-edge technology-driven solutions, catering to the needs of modern travelers.
Beyond the hotel, the VORIA mixed-use development is envisioned as a vibrant hub. It will feature extensive entertainment and dining facilities, cultural and event venues, and a casino. This integrated approach aims to create a holistic destination that appeals to both local residents and international visitors, fostering a dynamic environment in northern Athens. The project is also closely linked to the planned relocation of Regency Casino Mont Parnes to Maroussi, a move positioned as a crucial element in the area’s regeneration efforts.
Strengthening MGallery’s Presence in Athens
Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery, and Emblems, commented on the significance of this new addition to Accor’s portfolio. “This hotel is not only a notable addition to our portfolio, but also an important step in reinforcing MGallery’s presence and local relevance in Athens,” Bailly remarked. Upon its operational launch, the Maroussi property will become the third MGallery hotel in Attica, joining the ranks of the successful Athens Capital – MGallery and Athens Capital Suites – MGallery Collection, both currently operated by the Lampsa Group.
The existing Athens Capital has consistently ranked among MGallery’s top-performing hotels globally, serving as a testament to the robust and thriving luxury hotel market in Athens in recent years. This new venture further solidifies Accor’s commitment to the Greek capital and its burgeoning tourism sector.
Economic Impact and Future Outlook
The VORIA development, coupled with Accor’s significant involvement, is poised to generate substantial positive impacts on hospitality, tourism, and business activities in northern Athens. As the city continues to attract large-scale investments in high-end accommodation and sophisticated mixed-use infrastructure, projects like VORIA are crucial for its continued growth and development as a premier European destination.
The investment reflects a broader trend of confidence in the Greek tourism market, which continues to attract international brands and substantial capital, contributing to job creation and economic prosperity in the region.
