North Corfu Municipality Completes First Major Water Well Restoration, Bolstering Water Supply Ahead of Summer Season
Corfu, May 20 – The Municipality of North Corfu continues its intensive technical interventions on the water supply network to address extensive damage caused by the severe weather in November 2025 and to ensure sufficient water supply for the demanding summer period. This comes as state support commitments continue to be delayed.
As part of this ongoing effort, the restoration of the G1 91 water well in Lavyki has been completed. This critical well adds approximately 1,100 cubic meters of water per day to the water supply system. This significant increase in water availability covers the needs of the mountainous villages and a substantial portion of the coastal areas, thereby strengthening the security and stability of the water supply for the region.
Continuous Efforts to Repair and Reinforce Infrastructure
Crews and technical services are working daily in the field, engaged in a challenging battle to repair damages, reinforce infrastructure, and improve critical points within the network. Many issues are being corrected daily, utilizing the municipality’s own resources and limited personnel. Behind every intervention lies a significant effort to maintain a strained and aging water supply system with internal capabilities.
Call for Citizen Cooperation on Outstanding Debts
The Municipal Authority has once again appealed to citizens to fulfill their financial obligations, particularly regarding the settlement of long-standing debts. This is crucial to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of this enormous effort to restore and strengthen water supply infrastructure across North Corfu.
The municipality emphasizes that the timely payment of dues is essential for funding these vital projects, which directly benefit all residents and visitors to the area, especially as the high-demand summer season approaches.
