Air Serbia, the national carrier of Serbia, has announced a major expansion of its services to Greece, reinforcing its presence in key destinations such as Athens and Thessaloniki, and introducing a new direct flight to Santorini. This strategic move is part of the airline’s broader summer flight program, which launched on March 29, 2026, and includes over 100 destinations worldwide with a fleet of 30 aircraft.
Increased Connectivity for Greek Destinations
The Greek market is a primary focus for Air Serbia’s summer operations. The airline has significantly increased its flight frequencies to both Athens and Thessaloniki, aiming to enhance connectivity between Serbia and these two major Greek cities. This expansion addresses the strong demand observed in these routes, further solidifying Serbia’s link with Greece’s prominent urban and tourist centers.
Santorini Joins Air Serbia’s Network
In a notable addition, Santorini is now part of Air Serbia’s network, marking a new destination for the airline in Greece. This introduction aligns with the current trend among airlines seeking to establish robust seasonal portfolios in the Mediterranean region, capitalizing on the popularity of Greek islands as prime summer destinations.
Global Network Expansion and Milestones
Beyond Greece, Air Serbia’s summer schedule also features new routes to Brač, Alicante, Baku, and Seville, with flights to the Spanish city commencing in late September. A significant development is the inclusion of Toronto, which becomes the airline’s fifth long-haul destination, joining New York, Chicago, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Looking ahead, Air Serbia plans to introduce direct flights to Tromsø and Tenerife during the winter season, extending its reach from the Arctic North to the Canary Islands.
Enhanced Frequencies to Popular Destinations
The airline is also boosting frequencies to various other popular destinations across its network. This includes major European capitals such as Brussels, Milan, Madrid, Lisbon, Prague, and Vienna, as well as cities like Istanbul, Malta, Florence, and Nice. Within the wider region, increased flights will be available to Pula, Sofia, and Tivat.
A special highlight of this year’s planning is the 10th anniversary of scheduled flights to New York. This route was Air Serbia’s inaugural step into the North American market and continues to be one of its most popular and strategically important connections, underscoring its international footprint.
Commitment to Enhanced Passenger Experience
Boško Rupić, General Manager of Commercial Affairs and Strategy at Air Serbia, commented on the new summer season, stating, “This summer season brings more options than ever, both through new routes and increased frequencies to favorite destinations, aiming to further enhance the travel experience of passengers.” This statement emphasizes the airline’s commitment to providing diverse and convenient travel choices for its customers.
The expansion reflects Air Serbia’s dynamic approach to market demands and its continuous effort to strengthen its position as a leading airline in the region, offering broader access to popular tourist and business destinations.
