Athens, Greece, March 25 – Athens International Airport (AIA) concluded 2025 with a robust financial performance, marking another year of record-breaking passenger traffic and substantial advancements in its ongoing Airport Expansion Programme. The airport’s consistent growth underscores its pivotal role in European aviation, demonstrating a remarkable recovery trajectory post-pandemic.
Record Passenger Traffic and Financial Highlights
In 2025, AIA welcomed an unprecedented 34 million travelers, reflecting a significant 6.7% increase compared to 2024. This surge in passenger volume was a primary driver for the 1.5% rise in total revenue and other income, which reached €675.6 million. The adjusted airport charges, implemented in line with regulatory frameworks, also contributed to this positive financial outcome.
Despite the revenue increase, Adjusted EBITDA saw a 7.0% decrease from 2024, settling at €394.9 million, aligning with the company’s short-term targets and resulting in an Adjusted EBITDA margin of 58.5%. Profit after tax amounted to €207.3 million, a 12.1% reduction. This decrease was primarily attributed to the exhaustion of the carried amount, though partially offset by an increase in Aeronautical Activities Capital.
Investments during this period dramatically increased to €161.0 million, a substantial leap from €33.0 million in 2024. This significant investment highlights the accelerated implementation of the Airport Expansion Programme, signaling a strong commitment to future growth and enhanced operational capabilities.
