Athens, February 19 – The President Hotel Athens is redefining its presence on the Athenian skyline with a comprehensive renovation program. A key part of this initiative is the updated exterior fire escape, designed by Minos Digenis Arquitectos, which transforms a critical safety infrastructure into a significant architectural landmark.

President Hotel Athens Undergoes Major Renovation

The iconic President Hotel Athens is entering a new era, with an extensive renovation program that combines design, functionality, and contemporary aesthetics. Each upgrade is part of a broader hospitality philosophy, aiming to provide an experience that is comfortable, safe, and architecturally consistent.

As part of this development plan, the existing exterior fire escape has been renewed and upgraded, with an emphasis on aesthetic restoration and the addition of lighting. This intervention, in collaboration with the internationally recognized architectural firm Minos Digenis Arquitectos (MDA), integrates seamlessly with the architectural identity of the President Hotel Athens and enhances its presence in the urban landscape.

Fire Escape Becomes Architectural Statement

With a clear geometric morphology and dynamic chromatic presence, the renovated staircase functions as a distinct yet harmoniously integrated element on the building’s facade. The intervention highlights the structure and weight of the original design, transforming a necessary infrastructure into an element with clear architectural value and contributing to the hotel’s recognition in the urban landscape.

Originally designed by architect Ioannis Vikela and completed in 1978, the President Hotel Athens is a characteristic example of modern architecture and has been established as a landmark for both residents and visitors of Athens. This new intervention highlights the continuity of its journey: a building that respects its history but evolves, improves, and adapts to modern hospitality needs.

Renovation to be Completed in April 2026

The upgrade works at the President Hotel Athens are ongoing and are scheduled for completion in April 2026. The hotel is systematically investing in infrastructure, services, and aesthetics, strengthening its position as a living organism that evolves with the city.

The President Hotel Athens, one of Athens’ most emblematic hotels, has been operating continuously since 1978 and has been undergoing extensive renovations since 2019. This includes the complete upgrade of its rooms and conference facilities. With 21 floors, the President Hotel Athens offers spacious and comfortable rooms, as well as top-notch facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, and 7 fully equipped conference rooms with capacities ranging from 6 to 600 people.

At its restaurants, Avenue and Penthouse 21 Rooftop Pool Bar Restaurant, guests can enjoy authentic Mediterranean and Greek cuisine, while the unique decor, combining works of art from various cultures, gives the space a special character. The President Hotel Athens combines its timeless architecture with modern amenities and services, offering a luxurious and complete hospitality experience in the heart of Athens.
