Corfu, Greece – The Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu has granted photography permits to Aegean Airlines’ Blue Magazine for a special photographic tribute to the island’s museums. This initiative, taking place from February 12-18, 2026, aims to highlight Corfu’s rich cultural heritage and promote it to a broad international audience.
Extensive Photo Shoots Across Key Museums
The first photography permit, valid from February 12 to 14, allows for a photo shoot, including a person, at the Museum of Asian Art of Corfu, both internally and externally. These images will be featured in a photographic tribute in the March-April issue of Blue Magazine. This bilingual publication, in Greek and English, will be distributed in 250,000 copies on Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air flights, focusing on the tourist promotion of Greece.
A second permit, covering February 16 to 18, authorizes similar photo shoots at the Archaeological Museum of Corfu (interior) and the Byzantine Museum of Antivouniotissa (interior and exterior) for the same magazine. These extensive features aim to showcase the unique collections and architectural beauty of these significant cultural institutions.
Drone Footage for Social Media Promotion
In addition to still photography, drone footage will be captured during these sessions. This aerial cinematography will focus on behind-the-scenes moments of the photo shoots and will be exclusively used for promotion on Aegean Airlines’ social media channels. This modern approach will provide a dynamic and engaging perspective of the museums and their surroundings.
Strict Conditions for Preservation and Order
The permits come with strict conditions to ensure the preservation of the museums and their exhibits. Preparatory work and any necessary tests must be coordinated with the museum’s security staff. The applicant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order during and after the shoots, ensuring the museums are returned to their original state.
Crucially, the relocation of objects, exhibits, or support materials is strictly prohibited without explicit written permission. The use of elaborate set constructions, materials difficult to collect (such as styrofoam or confetti), and interference with electrical installations within the museums or their surrounding areas are also forbidden. The applicant must also ensure proper insulation of wiring and implement fire protection measures.
Corfu’s Cultural Gems on the International Stage
This collaboration between the Ephorate of Antiquities of Corfu and Aegean Airlines’ Blue Magazine represents a significant opportunity to elevate the profile of Corfu’s museums. By reaching hundreds of thousands of travelers, this initiative is expected to boost cultural tourism to the island, encouraging visitors to explore its historical and artistic treasures. The comprehensive coverage will introduce a wider audience to the depth and diversity of Corfu’s heritage, further solidifying its position as a premier cultural destination in the Ionian Islands.
