Corfu, February 13 – Two students from Corfu have achieved a significant distinction in the 86th Panhellenic Mathematical Competition ‘Euclid’, qualifying for the National Mathematical Olympiad ‘Archimedes’. This achievement continues the island’s tradition of success in mathematical competitions.
Students Prepare for National Competition
The students who have qualified to participate in the National Mathematical Olympiad ‘Archimedes’ are:
- BIZIANIS ALKINOOS, a first-year high school student from the 2nd General High School of Corfu.
- GEREKOU KATERINA, a second-year high school student from the 1st General High School of Corfu.
The ‘Archimedes’ Olympiad will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 10:00 AM, in Athens and several Regional Centers, which will be announced in the coming days on the EME website. The qualification for the National Olympiad is a particularly demanding achievement, as it is preceded by a series of competitive phases with a high degree of difficulty and the participation of hundreds of students from all over the country.
Recognition of Talent and Support
This success highlights the talent, systematic effort, and love of the students for Mathematics, as well as the significant support from their teachers and schools. Students competing in the National Olympiad aim to be selected for the National Team, which will represent the country in international mathematical events.
International Mathematical Competitions Ahead
The selection of the National Team will take place on April 4, 2026, with the goal of participating in the following international competitions:
- 43rd Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (Thessaloniki, May 3-8, 2026)
- 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (July 10-20, 2026, Shanghai, China)
- 30th Balkan Mathematical Olympiad for Juniors (June 16-20, 2026, Romania)
