Corfu, February 3, 2026 – Spanish airline Iberia has announced a significant expansion of its flight network, with a strong focus on enhancing connectivity to and from Greece. Starting this summer, Iberia will introduce daily flights connecting Corfu with Madrid, marking a new era of accessibility for the popular Greek island.

Iberia’s Expanded Greek Network

In addition to the new daily service to Corfu, Iberia will also offer up to seven weekly flights between Madrid and Mykonos, and up to six weekly flights to Santorini. This move is expected to significantly bolster tourism in these prime Greek destinations, providing more options for international travelers.

Increased Capacity on Key European Routes

Beyond its new Greek routes, Iberia is also increasing its flight capacity to several other important European destinations:

  • Milan: Two additional weekly flights have been added, bringing the total to 44 weekly flights throughout the summer season.
  • Athens: Capacity to the Greek capital is being significantly boosted, with 16 weekly flights in April, May, and October – four more than last summer. In August, the airline will reach its maximum capacity of 29 weekly flights to Athens.
  • Nice: Iberia is adding three additional flights, reaching 24 weekly flights throughout the summer.

This strategic expansion reflects Iberia’s commitment to strengthening its presence in key European markets and catering to the growing demand for travel to popular leisure destinations.

Impact on Corfu and Greek Tourism

The introduction of daily flights to Madrid is particularly significant for Corfu, offering direct access to a major European hub and facilitating connections to Iberia’s extensive global network. This increased accessibility is anticipated to have a positive impact on local tourism, attracting more visitors and extending the tourist season.

Local tourism stakeholders have expressed optimism regarding Iberia’s investment, highlighting the potential for economic growth and increased international recognition for Corfu. The enhanced connectivity is also expected to benefit local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and tour operators.

Future Outlook for Air Travel

Iberia’s expansion comes at a time when the airline industry is recovering and adapting to evolving travel patterns. The focus on popular tourist destinations like Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini underscores the continued demand for leisure travel, particularly to destinations known for their natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The airline’s decision to increase capacity on existing routes and introduce new services demonstrates its confidence in the market and its commitment to providing a comprehensive and accessible flight network for its passengers.

Travelers looking to explore the beauty of Corfu and other Greek islands will now have more convenient and frequent flight options, making their travel plans easier and more enjoyable.
