Corfu General Hospital has successfully completed an extensive and multi-faceted program of works and procurements, totaling over €3.4 million. This significant investment, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, ESPA, own resources, and donations, aimed at comprehensively upgrading the hospital’s infrastructure, mental health facilities, and medical equipment.

It is important to note that the region has recently experienced severe weather events. On November 20, 2025, a local tornado caused extensive damage to over 100 graves in the First Municipal Cemetery of Corfu, uprooting or breaking seven ancient cypress trees. The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands promptly initiated damage assessment and cleanup operations.
