Corfu is set to host a unique cultural event as the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Corfu (DI.PE.THE.), in collaboration with the Parish of the Holy Catholic Metropolitan Church, presents a special tribute to the Virgin Mother. The event, titled “The Heavens Declare the Glory of God”, will take place on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at the historic Saint Francis of Assisi Church, located at Nikiforou Theotoki 109.

A Harmonious Blend of Music and Poetry

The evening promises a rich cultural experience, featuring both musical and poetic performances. The musical segment will be graced by the talents of Sakis Vlachopoulos on cello and Redona Kolla on violin, who will infuse the night with their melodies. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Pantelis Kontos will perform a selection of Christmas songs and arias, capturing the spirit of the season.

Distinguished Actors to Recite Christmas Poems

A group of esteemed actors from the region will contribute to the tribute by reading Christmas poems. The participating actors include George Vlachos, Katerina Georgaki, Vangelis Zikos, Natalia Kapodistria, Antonia Petropoulou, Marietta Savvani, and Sofia Tombrou. Their readings are expected to add a profound and reflective dimension to the event, complementing the musical performances.

Petros Gallias Oversees Artistic Direction

The artistic direction of this significant tribute is under the expert guidance of Petros Gallias, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality presentation. His vision will bring together the diverse elements of music and poetry into a unified artistic experience for the audience.

Free Admission for All

In a gesture aimed at making this cultural event accessible to everyone, admission to the tribute will be free of charge. This allows residents and visitors alike to partake in an evening of spiritual and artistic enrichment during the festive season.

The Venue: Historic Saint Francis of Assisi Church

The choice of the historic Saint Francis of Assisi Church as the venue adds to the event’s significance. This iconic location provides a fitting backdrop for a tribute of this nature, enhancing the overall atmosphere and offering a unique cultural experience in one of Corfu’s most cherished architectural gems. The church’s rich history and architectural beauty are expected to contribute to the solemnity and grandeur of the occasion.

This event is part of Corfu’s broader cultural calendar, aiming to provide enriching experiences for its community and visitors, especially during the festive period. It highlights the collaborative spirit between local cultural institutions and religious bodies in promoting arts and culture.
