Corfu, Greece – The Public Employment Service (DYPA) has announced an extension of its Social Tourism program for the 2025-2026 period, benefiting both employed and unemployed individuals. The program’s duration has been prolonged from 12 to 13 months, according to a recent amendment to the Joint Ministerial Decision (30401/2025 – B’ 2115).

New Deadline for Beneficiaries

The new final date by which beneficiaries can take their holidays has been set for June 30, 2026. This extension aims to facilitate family planning for the utilization of accommodation and ferry tickets, thereby enhancing the qualitative characteristics of DYPA’s Social Tourism program.

Accommodation and Special Categories of Regions

Beneficiaries are entitled to up to six overnight stays at a tourist accommodation of their choice from DYPA’s Provider Register, following an agreement with the provider and with a small private contribution.

  • Leros, Mytilene, Chios, Kos, Samos, Rhodes: Up to 10 overnight stays free of charge (zero private contribution).
  • North Evia (Municipalities of Istiaia-Aidipsos & Mantoudi-Limni-Ag. Anna) and Regional Units of Magnesia, Karditsa, Larissa, Trikala, Evros: Up to 12 overnight stays free of charge.

Increased Subsidies for Peak Periods and Specific Regions

Subsidy rates will be increased by 20% for:

  • The peak month of August.
  • The period from December 15, 2025, to January 14, 2026 (Christmas).
  • The period from April 3, 2026, to April 19, 2026 (Easter).

For accommodations in North Evia, Evros, and Thessaly (excluding the Sporades), the increased subsidy applies throughout the entire year.

Ferry Tickets Also Subsidized

In addition to accommodation, ferry tickets are also subsidized:

  • The beneficiaries’ contribution amounts to 25%.
  • For individuals with disabilities, ferry tickets are provided free of charge.

This extension and the enhanced benefits are expected to provide greater flexibility and support for those wishing to participate in the Social Tourism program, promoting domestic tourism and offering much-needed respite for workers and the unemployed across Greece.
