Athens, December 8 – The highly anticipated contemporary Palestinian art exhibition, ‘All Eyes on Palestine,’ is set to open on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Karori 15 & Voreou 4 in the historic center of Athens. This landmark exhibition celebrates the work of 20 Palestinian artists, born between the two Intifadas, who are currently working in Gaza, the West Bank, France, the UK, and other locations.
Contemporary Art as a Tool of Resistance
The exhibition highlights artists who engage with the realities of occupation, exile, and resistance, responding to the violence and erasure of the Palestinian people through acts of creation. Their works offer a powerful commentary on their experiences and heritage.
Featured Artists and Curatorial Vision
Among the selected artists is the multifaceted Amer Shomali, co-director of the acclaimed animated documentary ‘The Wanted 18’ and director of the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit. Shomali explores revolutionary iconography through painting, cinema, and digital media. Visual and multimedia artist Sharif Waked delves into memory, power, and identity through video, photography, and digital painting. Palestinian-Danish artist Larissa Sansour combines video, photography, and installation with science fiction narratives to address exile, trauma, and collective identity.
Also featured are Bayan Abu Nahla, born in the new millennium, who depicts the remnants seen through the eyes of survivors in poetic watercolors, and Malak Mattar, born in 1999, already an iconic illustrator and artist of her generation.
The exhibition is curated by Elettra Stamboulis, an Italian curator of Greek descent, author, and cultural producer with extensive experience in contemporary art, comics, and socially engaged projects. She is supported by Greek artist and activist Danae Stratou, president of the Center for Postcapitalist Culture – mέta, known for her large-scale nature installations and social initiatives, and Doris Hakim, a Greek-Palestinian artist whose work explores borders, identity, and the intersections of personal and collective memory.
