The fifth edition of the Athens Wine & Art Festival concluded yesterday evening, Sunday 19 October 2025, after a two-day celebration of wine and contemporary art at the historic Ktirio Olympias in Monastiraki. Located at Athinas 57, the event merged discovery-focused tastings with a multi-floor art exhibition in the city’s heart, capturing the attention of both locals and tourists.

Over 70 boutique wineries from Greece and other countries presented more than 600 wines, allowing guests to discover new labels and connect with the winemakers. The participation of many first-time estates highlights the festival’s increasing importance as a benchmark for the national wine scene and a platform for new producers.

The artistic program was curated by noted art historian Iris Kritikou. More than 70 visual artists participated in the group exhibition “Enoikoi” (“Residents”), which spread across all levels of the Ktirio Olympias. This mix of installations, tastings, and guided tours transformed the venue into a rich environment of art, wine, and culture.

Why did the festival draw such a crowd?

The festival’s format, which paired a curated contemporary art show with practical tastings, appealed to wine enthusiasts and culture lovers alike. The opportunity for direct conversations with winemakers alongside new works by Greek artists made for an immersive experience that is a highlight on Athens’ cultural calendar.

Who took part in the event?

The event featured boutique wineries from various Greek regions and select international labels, alongside a large group of visual artists chosen by Iris Kritikou for “Enoikoi”. This wide range gave visitors the chance to compare different styles, terroirs, and artistic methods all in one place.

What did the program offer across two days?

In addition to tastings, the organizers arranged activities designed for various audiences:

  • Educational seminars and guided tastings
  • DJ sets and art performances
  • Curated tours through the multi-floor exhibition
  • Creative activities for children

What did visitors discover?

Guests sampled everything from native Greek varieties to experimental blends, moving through art installations that defined each floor. The event’s layout promoted learning, conversation, and the discovery of wine labels new to the Athens scene.

Athens Wine & Art Festival transformed Ktirio Olympias

Located just steps from Monastiraki, the venue turned into a vibrant meeting point for flavors and ideas. Every floor featured parts of the “Enoikoi” exhibition next to tasting stations, allowing attendees to easily switch between viewing art and exploring wines within the same building.

Why was it worth attending?

With over 600 wines available and numerous first-time exhibitors, this year’s festival focused on variety and newness. The interaction between producers and the public strengthened Athens’ reputation as a hub for contemporary culture and fine wine.

What’s next for the festival?

As of now, the organizers have not announced the dates for the next festival. However, given the strong public interest and an expanding list of participants, more details are expected once the plans are confirmed.
