Athens’ darker side is set to take the stage this Halloween season. On 30 October at the historic Kyttaro club, the city hosts Athens Spooks: When Apples Fall from Trees – a night billed as Athens’ first dark-sound Halloween festival, blending music, theatrical flair, and celebration as the opener to the wider Athens Halloween Festival.
Why will Athens Spooks draw crowds on 30 October?
The lineup combines acclaimed international names with strong representatives of the local heavy scene. Organisers present the night as a fresh cultural landmark for Athens, aiming to establish a recurring event that brings the city onto the European Halloween calendar while keeping the focus firmly on live music.
Who is in the lineup?
Headliners Lucifer bring their doom-tinged, proto-metal power and occult aesthetics, led by the commanding voice of Johanna Platow and joined by guitarist Rosalie Cunningham. Making their Greek debut, Finland’s The Abbey arrive with drummer Vesa Ranta (ex-Sentenced), blending doom rock with psychedelic and progressive elements. From Greece, The Blackwall – also involved in the festival’s organisation – will appear alongside Black Soul Horde and Virgin Mary’s Eyes, offering different styles of heavy sound on the Kyttaro stage.
What does the Halloween program include?
Beyond the concert itself, the evening kicks off the broader Athens Halloween Festival centered around the Kypseli Municipal Market, featuring spooky-themed pop-up shops, an Escape Room, a Ghost Hunt and other interactive games, Trick & Treat corners with sweets, Stand Up Comedy and more surprises. After the live sets, a dedicated DJ set will host the festival’s official afterparty to keep the Halloween spirit going late into the night.
Kyttaro transforms into a Halloween stage
The historic venue – long a home to legendary shows – will be dressed for the occasion: décor, lighting, costumes, pumpkins, and a unique atmosphere are planned to transform the space into a full Halloween scene in the heart of Athens.
What do the organisers say?
Members of The Blackwall point out that their music and visual aesthetic lean toward spooky and occult themes, and that while Halloween is widespread in Northern Europe, Athens has lacked larger-scale events. Their goal, they note, is to launch a festival that can grow into an annual tradition – inviting fans to fill Kyttaro, dress up, and give Athens Spooks the momentum it needs to become a city fixture.
How to get tickets and when to arrive
Tickets are available exclusively through more.com. Pricing starts at a super early bird offer of €23, then moves to €26 and €29 in later tiers. Doors open at 19:00, so organisers encourage early arrival to enjoy the full program and avoid queues.
